The Chiengmai Gymkhana Club
Was founded in 1898 and is as such the oldest sports venue
in northern Thailand. Set up by a group of foreign businessmen
under the patronage of a Chiangmai nobleman its sole objective
is the encouragement of sports in northern Thailand. This
5914-yard par 72-park style 9-hole course is laid out on a
120-rai plot of land with its fairways pleasantly shaded by
big mature trees. It offers the charm of a nostalgic setting
at the outskirts of Chiangmai. Its clubhouse is a meeting
place for Thai and foreign locals.
Royal Chiangmai Golf Course
Designed by 5 times British open winner Peter Thomson and
Michael Wolverridge, this 6900-yard par 72, parkland style
course is located 35 minutes from Chiangmai in the foothills
of northern Thailand. This 300 hectare site, a former fruit
orchard, offers beautiful panoramic vistas on the distant
mountains. Due to the higher altitude here, the climate
is cooler and less humid with refreshing air and gentle
breezes. Thousands of flowering trees erupt in different
fragrances each month of the year. The design uses elements
from a British links style course including bumpy gently
rolling fairways, pot bunkers and closely mowed areas around
the greens.
Lanna Golf Club
Located only about 10 minutes from downtown Chiangmai the
club offers one of Thailand’s finest old style golf
courses. The lovely 27-hole course adjacent to the horse
race track offers three distinctly unique design styles
with panoramic views of Chiangmai’s famed Doi Suthep
temple. The golf course winds through impressive boulevards
of huge mature trees, skirts many large ponds and cross-crosses
numerous bubbling streams and canals. It is renown for its
cadre of exceptionally skilled and lovely caddies, golf
